Our Impact in 2019

We are extremely happy to announce we finally opened our new culinary school and launched a pilot program serving 17 teens and adults giving them the tools for a new vocation. Our collaboration with INFOP, a Honduran NGO, helped bring this to fruition.

We continued our work in promoting after school activities at Centro de Estrellas, providing a safe, secure and positive environment for 252 vulnerable youth.

Our “sustainable” Pre-K and Kindergarten programming served 41 kids giving them a strong foundation for being successful learners as they enter the public school system.

HEDAC also welcomed Ana Gil-Garcia to our Board of Directors. Dr. Gil-Garcia holds a PHD in education and has worked for over 20 years at Northeastern Illinois University focused on training teachers to become principals.

In collaboration with The Sports Shed (a Chicago based NFP) we distributed 125 soccer balls, 225 T-shirts to 12 urban and rural communities and organized a soccer tournament with the participation of 8 educational centers along with students of the local high school.
