Cinco de Enero
Centro de Estrellas, established by HEDAC in Cinco de Enero, provides a safe space for Morazan’s children. In 2010, Cinco de Enero donated land to HEDAC, by 2012, a joint construction project was underway, and Centro de Estrellas opened in 2014.
Centro de Estrellas features a library with over 2,000 books, desks, and free Internet access, supporting students’ academic needs. The program offers diverse activities like music, arts and crafts, chess, theater, sewing, dance, and martial arts, helping students explore and develop new skills. Additionally, Centro de Estrellas serves as a community hub, providing meeting spaces for parents, teachers, and leaders, fostering unity and collaboration.
Centro de Estrellas provides a safe place for children after school, reducing exposure to dangers and negative influences. It improves academic performance and broadens horizons while nurturing students’ talents and passions. Through the collaborative efforts of HEDAC, Cinco de Enero, and local authorities, Centro de Estrellas has become a beacon of hope and opportunity, showcasing the power of community in building a better future for children.
In 2017 HEDAC launched the Pre-K and Kinder program in its own building on the grounds of Cinco de Enero. This additional program is tuition based and is part of our sustainability initiative.
